This is what happens to an arrogant kitty: he ends up in 163rd and Wadsworth Avenue under today's newspaper, regretting the stupid shit he said.

Apparently, HBO preferred a show about Rome over kitty's show about Myxomatosis. Since 'kitty' spent a lot of money producing
the pilot for his show, he found himself
unable to pay his huuuge debts and was stripped of all his belongings.

During my lifetime, I have been asked many questions... over and over and over and over and over again. So, as a result, I shall write my very own F(requently)A(sked)Q(uestions) section, in no particular order:

1. Why are you so quiet?
- I don't know why! I guess God made me that way. You know how some people just can't shut up??? Well, God had to make someone a little quiet, and He chose me.

2. Who taught you how to play guitar?
- Nobody. I picked it up one day (about 3½ years ago) because a lot of songs I liked had guitars in them... and because I was bored. Also, I can't read guitar tablatures (tabs are for losers). So I guess anyone can play guitar... either that, or I'm a genius!

3.Are you OK?
- No, I'm not.

4. Are you single?
- According to 1 a, yes.

5. Where were you born?
- Here.

6. Where do you live?
- I live close to this place... coincidentally.

7. Where the hell did you get this song?
- About 95% of the music I listen to is not played on the radio, so the people I know have no idea what I'm listening to. The music I listen to either scares them, bores them, amuses them, or has no impact on them. They usually ask me this question after hearing a Radiohead or Cafe Tacvba song.

8. Are you shy?
- No. But it's really fun when people think I am.

9. What's your college major?
- If anyone asks me this again, I will kick him (if it's a 'her', my little sister will kick you) in the stomach. In the last week, EVERYONE I ran into asked me this 2 minutes into our conversation. So, from now on, I'll probably say "Let's say our majors at the same time, OK? 1...2... " and then say whatever that person says.

10. What's up with you and your cat?
- Due to court's orders, I cannot speak much about my cat. I can, however, tell you that he is in talks with HBO, working on a series that will raise awareness about Myxomatosis (also known as Kitty AIDS). He's like the Bono of kitties, except Bono isn't an asshole.

Esta es la mejor banda que haya salido de Mexico(si es que no es la mejor banda de toda Latinoamerica). Su musica es tan eclectica que es dificil de describir. Lo unico lamentable es que el concierto fue ayer, Domingo (porque lamentable? Porque estaba muy cansado y con un 'hangover' del Viernes y Sabado del hijuep**a...). Ah, y no tocaron tres de mis canciones favoritas: "El Espacio," "Avientame," y "Dog:God".

Normalmente (o al menos en Mexico), los Café Tacvba tocan un promedio de 25 canciones. Ayer, tocaron mucho menos, pero como estaba tan, tan, pero tan cansado, me dio gusto que solo hayan sido como 17 canciones. No obstante, Café Tacvba son unos genios. No son "The Mexican Beatles." No son "The Mexican Radiohead." Son Café Tacvba!!!

Bloc (muthafuckin') Party put on the most kick-ass show I've ever seen: moshpitting, band members stagediving, punchdrunk lovesick singalongs, headbanging, 2 encores, 2 new songs, twisted ankles... (click on the title to see a short video of "Helicopter")

This is a cool new band! This felt like one of those 'I saw them in their early years, before they became huge stars' type of show. I hope they don't grow up and become rockers in iPod commercials who sell out stadiums and lose their shows' intimacy ( "for love or money?" says the song). Not that there's anything wrong with that... it's just not as cool... Anycrap, Bloc Party rocks!

U2 at Madison Square Garden. It's what I've been dying to see. They love this city, and this city loves them. "City of Blinding Lights" was written for New York City (and the other cities on the Vertigo Tour know it). New Yorkers were dancing to every song, especially Sunday Bloody Sunday, Streets, and Mysterious Ways, which had people dancing in the aisles. EVERYONE, including the champagne vendors and security, was dancing. The Garden was shaking, literally (which explains the blurry pictures). This is the U2 show experience I wanted!

Since I have waited my entire life for this, I only took a few (crappy) pictures of the show. I was more interested in enjoying the show...

^People are waiting. I'm eating (yea, I know what your thinking... "The seats look shitty." Trust me, NO seat is shitty in a U2 show!). 2 hours later...

^U2!!! Playing the classics from their first album... half the audience have no idea what songs they're singing (I was waiting for someone to say "Where's 'Vertigo'? " so I could pop 'em in the mouth!)

Throughout the show, this rhythmically-challenged woman next to me looked at my foot-stomping for guidance... Great show (One of the highlights was "Running to Stand Still." I fuckin' LOVE that song); I'm sure Madison Square Garden is gonna kick ass!! ...1 show down... 4 to go.

Esto es lo que pasa cuando un presidente se quiere pasar de vivo: La gente sale, por los miles, a las calles para hacerse escuchar. Lamentablemente, a llegado, una vez mas, a este punto el grado de abuso de poder en Ecuador (y en muchas otras partes de Latinoamerica).

Desde su auto-aumento de sueldo (el presidente ecuatoriano es uno de los mejores pagados en Latinoamerica) y la falta de ayuda a los jubilados (algunos recibian pensiones de $3/mes; los mas afortunados recibian $15/mes), hasta el reciente despido de los jueces de la corte suprema (a los cuales remplazo con jueces mas 'amigables') y el retorno de Abdala Bucaram (un ladron, loco de remate) al pais, Lucio Gutierrez estaba haciendo meritos para ser echado de la presidencia, como todo un ladron.

Asi que hoy, despues de tanta protesta, tanta violencia innecesaria (tanto de los policias como de los protestantes), y tantas injusticias, Lucio Gutierrez se ha convertido en un ex-presidente mas en Ecuador. Cambiamos de presidentes como cambiar de canal. Lo triste es que este ex-presidente era lo mas cercano a un cambio, algo muy necesario en Ecuador. I've been debating in my head whether or not I should buy this (possibly life changing) electric guitar. I was close to buying it today, but then I thought of other less-selfish things I could do with my money, and then did them.

Guitarists always say in interviews, "I saw [a legendary guitarist, usually Jimi Hendrix] play the guitar when I was young and the next day, I bought a guitar." Well, it's not that easy when you're broke, or when you have 'important' things to pay for when you do have money. Besides, I can always write songs with my acoustic guitar and rock out, Brazilian-guitar style!

Anyway, I've been considering this for a week or so (after listening to some ass-kicking music by The Strokes and Bloc Party), because college isn't really interesting to me. I love music and want to do something related to music, whether it's tuning guitars, being a radio DJ, or rocking out to 20,000 people... as long as it has something to do with (good) music.

If I don't buy it, I'll probably become a grumpy old man who speaks about "could'ves, would'ves, should'ves" and collects rocks that are shaped like famous political figures' faces.

Time to decide.

The 1st quarter of 2005 is over. It was cool, but the 2nd quarter is gonna kick ass!

Five Music-Related Things I'm Reeeeally Looking Forward to in 2005's 2nd Quarter:

5) The Strokes are currently finishing their 3rd album. Hopefully, they'll finish in time to release it this summer!

4) The White Stripes' new album, Get Behind Me Satan, comes out June 7th! They are one of the very few good American bands around.

3) I'm gonna see Keane on June 7th at Radio City Music Hall. I like them a little bit, but what makes me look forward to their show is the fact that I'm going with Young Eun.

2) Coldplay's 3rd album, X&Y, comes out... you guessed it... June 7th! I have yet to dislike a Coldplay song, so I'm eager to hear this new album. I hope I have enough money to buy the White Stripes album, too.

1) On May 17 and 21, I will be going to see U2. Although I saw them live under the Brooklyn Bridge on November 22, this is gonna be the 1st time I'm gonna see them live on tour!! The first show is in New Jersey. The second is in Madison Square Garden!

Although 3 out of 5 of these things will happen in one day (June 7th), I'm sure there will be some pleasant surprises throughout the next 3 months.

Three years ago, my grandmother, Maria Eloisa Monge (a.k.a. Mamita Julia), was alive. She had been slightly ill for a week before she passed away on March 16, 2002, as I was sleeping. The fact she lived in Ecuador eased the pain, because I still think she's gonna be waiting in the airport whenever I go; it did not (and does not) seem real. It was devastating to have the backbone of our family pass away, to not be able to see her one last time, and to see my mother cry. Whenever I listen to "One Step Closer" by U2, I imagine what must've gone through her mind before leaving this world, going to a place no one knows:

4 Years ago, I had a debate with my cousin about how U2 is more relevant than (brace yourself) O-Town... They were a "hot boy band" back then. But their 15 Minutes were up a long time ago.

His Argument: O-Town has 5 great singers.

My Argument: U2 have written great songs ("One," "Where the Streets Have No Name," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," and about 100 more) and made excellent music for over 20 years. The play their own instruments. The singer "can't sing, but [he's] got soul." They give the most powerful live performances anyone has ever seen. 20+ years later, they still sell out Madison Square Garden 8 times on a single tour. U2 put their heart and soul into several great causes, such as fighting AIDS in Africa and Third World countries and fighting to have said countries' debts dropped.

As I write this, U2 are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 20 years to the day Rolling Stone magazine named them Band of the 80's. Months after releasing what may be the album of their careers, U2 are still strong, still relevant.

Well done, lads.

Every winter, people in my neighborhood have had to tiptoe across a slippery, icy street because no one shovels the snow that has accumulated. We condemned the snow and used several expletives to vent our frustrations (these include, but are not limited to: 'g*ddamn,' 's#!t,' and 'hijuepu+a')

This winter was no different. UNTIL, one day, I was coming home, back from another useless Calculus lesson which will not contribute in any way to my happiness and well-being on this earth. I was thinking, "S#%t! Hijuepu+a! I gotta walk around this g*ddamn block... again!" But, to my wonderful surprise, I saw 6-7 people shoveling the snow!! I thought, "Wow, how nice of them." I then realized they weren't doing it as good samaritans, but they were doing it because it was part of their community service (what gave it away? The cop watching over them!)

The people living around 165th and St. Nicholas Avenue would like to thank you for finally taking care of our problem. Thanks to those criminals who are too good to be in jail but too bad to be let off the hook, we can all now walk safely through 166th Street. Little Cactus drowned. It wasn't an accident, but no one knows who did it. Most people say other cacti probably killed him because, apparently Little Cactus owed them money (somewhere near the amount of $60,000). Nobody knows what Little Cactus did with the money. He certainly spent it all, because, when the body was found, he had not one cent on him.

Perhaps the killers took the money after they killed him. But where would the money have been if Little Cactus had no pockets? He didn't have a purse, because that would've been weird. He didn't have a fanny pack because fanny packs "are for losers," he once said. I think he knew this day would come, which is why he probably spent all the money.

An old and wise coyote claims to have seen everything. He says he saw Little Cactus "run like hell," but with no destination. Then, Little Cactus tripped and fell to the ground. At this point, the cacti caught up to him and seized him, to Little Cactus' misfortune. According to the old coyote, Little Cactus was tortured before being asphyxiated.

All and all, Little Cactus was killed... with a smile on his face.

I miss the days when only people who really loved music had an iPod. Now people buy a 40GB iPod and only put 20 songs in it. I don't know what this 'kitty' (who shall remain nameless to protect his reputation) is listening to, but, judging from his enthusiastic face, the music must be crap (Ex: The Killers, Green Day, Britney... you get the idea).

By the way, the black cat is NOT my cat... My cat doesn't take shit from anyone... plus, I tried to take a picture of him with my U2 iPod (That's right! Why today, January 25, 2005, is eligible for the Worst Day of 2005 category:

1) U2 screwed me over... $165 for a fucking seat?!?!? Who the fuck wants to sit on a show and, even worse, pay $165 to do so?!? That's scalper prices!!

I failed to acquire tickets to the New York City show of U2's highly-anticipated Vertigo Tour. What I got instead were some shitty seats in the Meadowlands Arena... in New Jersey.

Many fans (who were all promised "priority booking" for the tour) didn't get shit. I should consider myself blessed that I got anything. However, the statement in U2.com claimed fans participating on the Pre-Sale (In other words, those of us who paid $40 to be part of some bullshit website) would get to purchase GENERAL ADMISSION SEATS for the shows (that means on the floor, where the basketball court would be)... I have yet to hear from any lucky fuck who got GA seats for Madison Square Garden, except for those sons-of-bitches selling them for over $1,000 at EBay. I guess that's U2's way of saying, "HAHA, you dumb fucks!! We now have your money!"... at least Radiohead scalpers only charged $200.

2) My GPA has gone from a 3.0 to a 2.5, (not that it matters)... it's the same as it was a year ago. That's not the issue. I actually thought I would be failing all my classes. The shit is I let down some of the nicest professors I've had in a while, particularly a beautiful professor who shall remain anonymous (God bless her).

3) Something I will be keeping to myself.

4) Buying those expensive/shitty tickets for the aforementioned U2 concert have let me completely broke! I was expecting to be broke after buying tickets today, but also happy. Instead, I'm now pissed-the-fuck-off.

Now... to release my anger on everyone who makes eye contact with me. (Just kidding)

VII U2 Tour Olympics

Approximately every four years, U2 does what it does best: tour. Before the VI U2 Ticket Olympics, I trained hard everyday, taking advice from the best in the field. There was only one thing in my mind the week before the tickets went on sale: getting tickets.

On the day of the big event, I failed miserably and was able to purchase 0 tickets for a single U2 show. Nevertheless, that was the Pre-Sale and I had faith I would get tickets on the Public Sale date. And, once again, I experienced what has been called "the biggest failure of my career."

I've replayed such horrible performance in my mind, everyday since it happened. I've participated in several Tour Championships and Events, including the V Radiohead Tour Championship, the Coldplay North American Tour Competition, The Strokes' Competition for Charity, and a Special Guest at Bunbury's 2002 Pequeño Cabaret Ambulante and 2004's Freak Show.

And now, on the eve of the VII U2 Tour Olympics, I can say, with a confidence I have never seen in any mortal being, that I WILL PURCHASE TICKETS TO SEE U2 LIVE (God willing, of course). Mark my words! I will do everything I can to get tickets for their show in New York City (May 21st, Saturday). Everything and Anything (except that, of course... but believe me, it won't come to that).

I will be victorious tomorrow!

After four days of thinking about it, I bought it...

Finally, I can play a couple of songs I like that have a harmonica solo.
